Hi there! I’m Soo Uhm (she/hers/her), an acupuncture practitioner who holds a Master of Science in Acupuncture from Tristate College of Acupuncture. Specializing in the Kiiko Matsumoto Style of Acupuncture (KMS), I use palpation as a principle means of diagnosis to help alleviate and treat a host of issues. My primary motivation is building rapport with you, the patient. You are the ultimate expert on your body, and working together to identify areas of healing helps me determine an individualized treatment plan for you.
I came to acupuncture indirectly, going abroad after college to teach English as a second language. During my stay in Korea, I received a master’s degree and worked as a refugee coordinator at a nonprofit organization. After moving to New York, I worked in the financial sector for ten years before pivoting careers to work at a grassroots organization for women human rights defenders.
While living in Seoul, acupuncture was my principal means of staying healthy, alleviating back pain, and balancing my digestive system. The healing I experienced through acupuncture was so profound that I decided to dedicate my life to facilitating acupuncture healing for others. I believe the body wants to heal itself, and acupuncture is a vessel to promote this healing.
